Jazz Events In Budapest

Budapest is a city that delights in high culture, but only some of this affection for the finer things is visible on first sight. The wary traveller may see signs for operas, theatre and ballet all over the city, and can thus get a sense that this city does have a reservoir of refined culture. But what of jazz events? You never see or hear of them anywhere in this city! These virtually invisible events do exist, and are enjoyed by many, you just have to dig around a little bit for them. Lucky for you, we did the digging, and found that the biggest jazz event of the year is just around the corner.

Kenny Garrett Live In Budapest

Kenny Garrett is a man whose name will be known by any jazz aficionado. He has worked with the best, from Miles Davis and Pat Mehany to Duke Ellington and Marcus Miller, and his name is synonymous with the jazz saxophone. So much so that his signature style is what people think of first when the imagine the jazz saxophone, he has become an icon and a legend within his lifetime.

The E.T. Project

One of the countless projects he is currently involved in is with an incredibly talented young Hungarian, Koós-Hutás Áron, who is also a saxophonist. His work is very vibrant and very avant-garde, and the two together make an incredible mixture that will surely be remembered as one of the best projects that this era has to offer.

The event

The event is going to be a part of a series of events sponsored by MOMPark, an upscale mall on the Buda side. This mall has an awesome movie theatre and is very active culturally, sponsoring events and hosting some of them too. The series is called MOMKult, Jazz from Two Continents, and will be focusing on bands and projects in which musicians from two different continents play together. The event will take place on the 2nd of November, and the location is easily accessible with public transport and will have parking places as well. A must for any jazz lover.
