A smile makeover is a process intended to give you a straighter, more attractive smile and self-confidence. Many people are timid and lose self-esteem concerning their smiles because they feel that their teeth are not white enough, or are not adequately straight, or they are missing a tooth. These issues cause some people to feel so self-conscious that they do not want to smile or laugh in front of others, and may even avoid being photographed.
To achieve your improved smile, you may undergo one or more procedures that treat the teeth and/or gums. The number of procedures that you need depends on the dental issues that you have, and each case is unique. Often, part of a smile makeover involves straightening teeth that are crooked, and teeth that overlap each other may be moved into better positions.
Some aspects of your smile that your cosmetic dentist will review with you in order to know what exactly is needed to perfect your smile are the following:
Silver or amalgam dental fillings should be replaced with natural, tooth-coloured composite restorations, while teeth whitening can improve the colour of stained or dulled teeth. Tooth colour and shading are important considerations during the evaluation of and preparation for various procedures, including porcelain veneers, crowns, bridges, composite bonding and dental implants.
The shade that your dentist selects for teeth whitening and veneers is carefully evaluated, with special consideration given to the tone and colour of your face and hair. Please note that the whitest smile might not be the best for you if it does not fit your face: let your dentist help you to decide on the colour.
Teeth that are crooked, overlapping or have gaps between them can be straightened and aligned when necessary, through orthodontics or Invisalign, and improved with veneers.
One or more missing teeth can negatively affect the appearance of your smile – as well as affecting your bite and increasing the risk of tooth decay – making replacement an integral part of oral health and facial aesthetics. Missing teeth can be replaced by dental implants, bridges or partial dentures.
Uneven, chipped and cracked teeth can be cosmetically bonded for an improved appearance, and a gummy smile can be re-contoured to help improve the overall look of the smile. Treatment fees
Cosmetic dentistry procedures require regular oral hygiene care and may require maintenance over time. For example, teeth whitening must be repeated on occasion in order to maintain brightness. Porcelain veneers may chip or break off and may need replacement. Permanent composite bonding may eventually stain and require enhancement or replacement. Dental crowns typically require replacement after 15 to 20 years.
Tooth coloured, composite white fillings are more aesthetically pleasing than amalgam ones as they blend in with the rest of the teeth and are virtually invisible. They are also healthier as no mercury or metals are used in the making of white fillings, making them hypoallergenic, too. Get your amalgam fillings replaced with tooth coloured white fillings, and get whatever cracks, snags and cavities you may have filled up with this material for a really noticeable improvement in your smile. One of our patients had broken his teeth after an unfortunate fall in the tube. At his first phone call he was affraid that this would be an expensive buildup with crowns, but after his first consultation he got to know that this minor problem can be solved in one session with a simple filling material build up.
Only after 1,5 hours in the chair he could leave home with new teeth.
