While I do not write about just one attraction or site in particular, the Hero square is probably the only sight in Budapest that deserves a spot all on its own. Not because it is so special, although it is a beautiful monument and has plenty to offer just like that, but because there are numerous tourist attractions and interesting things to do right there at that one square. This might be the reason the square is on every single hop on hop off list as well as mentioned at every single tourist office as well.

In a recent article published by Smile magazine, the link between periodontitis and osteoporosis is laid bare. I intend to give a short summary of the findings, and then go into detail to see what these findings imply, what they mean and how it changes the way we think about dentistry, and more importantly, how they should change the lives of those who are living with osteoporosis.

As most backpackers already know, Hungary is the home of festivals. All summer long, Hungarian organizers are busy planning massive (and I do mean massive!) festivals with tons of bands and performers and lots and lots of fun things to do. There are all sorts of festivals to see and hear, including ones about rock music, classical music, and even ones dedicated to certain foods, and of course the ones dedicated to wine and booze in general!

The statistics relevant for medical tourism are in, and dentistry is still the number one reason people travel abroad, and Hungary is still the number one country that people tend to visit for medical tourism! This is great news as economic hardship has hit Hungary fairly hard, with many jobs becoming lost and pensions and benefits receiving major cuts from corrupt, overpaid politicians as well, so at least this industry is keeping our spirits high!

This year has brought with it a lot of very interesting changes. The most obvious is the complete lack of spring in this part of the world, with a harsh winter lasting until the end of March, and then summer came without further ado. With it came an incredibly rise in tourism as well.
