When Travelling Abroad, Just Remember- Time Is A Factor!

When Travelling Abroad, Just Remember- Time Is A Factor!

Most procedures that are worth travelling abroad for are expensive. They are either oral surgical procedures which are complicated and require multiple visits and highly skilled professionals, and are thus expensive, or they involve dental implants or orthodontics, and equipment is always costly. This is why many people keep putting their trips off again and again. In some cases, this is an acceptable, if foolish thing to do. In other circumstances, waiting to have a treatment done may be a risk to your life.

The Biotechnology Lag

The Biotechnology Lag

When going to a foreign country many people have fears and like to ask if the country will have the necessary techniques needed to give you the treatment you paid for. There is a technology lag, as many countries who issue patents will issue them in a way that make sure that the country where it was developed can have a piece of the pie first. This is true for many EU countries as well as the Americas, but this is not the case in countries like Taiwan, Japan, China and many of the Asian countries, where most things are developed anyway. The question is, basically will there be a tech lag for biotechnology that is developed that may help save lives?

How Stem Cells Will Change Medical Tourism

How Stem Cells Will Change Medical Tourism

It seems fairly obvious that the future of dentistry will be closely linked to the development of stem cell research. Stem cells are cells in the body that are unspecialized, meaning they can turn into any other cell in the human body. This of course has very far reaching implications for medicine, and thus, for dentistry as well. There were of course ethical issues to consider, as stem cells were being taken from aborted fetuses, so a lot of people who did not approve of abortion, such as moralizing christians and fundamentalist muslims, not to mention super orthodox jews, could not partake in the blessings of stem cells.

Dental Tourism Statistics

Dental Tourism Statistics

There is a lot of hullabaloo about dental tourism, and about receiving dental treatment abroad. This is natural,a s it is a relatively new industry, so people still have hang ups and do not understand really how getting dental treatment in a foreign country really works. What cannot be denied though is the success of the industry, an industry that would not have this success if it were not for satisfied patients and good reviews. This industry does tend to become more well known through being given good reviews, and not through anything else. After all, you would only go to a doctor whom you have heard of was good, right?

Waiting Times

Waiting Times

It is a very rare occasion that you can travel abroad, go to the dentist in the morning and be on your way home a few hours later, after a light lunch. Dental treatments, for the most part simply do not roll that way, and although certain dental treatments would definitely permit this scenario to unfold, those dental treatments, for the most part, are not in and of themselves worth it to travel abroad for. Usually, complicated treatments are what make people get on a plane, and these almost always have a certain amount of healing time associated with them.
